  • Celsius

    The Swedish astronomer Anders Celsius proposed the Celsius temperature scale in 1742.
    
    This temperature scale is used throughout the world, except in the United States and a few other countries. 0 °C is defined as the freezing point of water and 100 °C is defined as the boiling point of water. Subzero is therefore a temperature below freezing point.

SubZero has been established as a film festival to showcase new directions in the thematic and aesthetic nature of Scandinavian film.

SubZero Film Fest: Emerging Scandinavian Directors Break the Ice in New York will transform the perception of Scandinavian film as sombre and spare, by showing short films by a new generation of Scandinavian film makers who are expressing themselves through innovative content and inventive visual language.

To bring awareness to Scandinavian film and SubZero, a series of “buzz” events with selected groups in New York City will take place. The premiere A Cooler Perspective: New Directions on Norwegian Film, April 8 and 9, 2010 started at Scandinavia House.

The second buzz event, Scandinavian Female Directors Break the Ice in New York, was held at Hyper Island on December 2, 2010.
