Celsius
The Swedish astronomer Anders Celsius proposed the Celsius temperature scale in 1742.

This temperature scale is used throughout the world, except in the United States and a few other countries. 0 °C is defined as the freezing point of water and 100 °C is defined as the boiling point of water. Subzero is therefore a temperature below freezing point.
